Making the Web Accessible for Everyone

Hi, I'm Miguel. I help organizations make their websites, documents, and digital products accessible. Everyone deserves an inclusive web experience.

3-Month Projects

I work with organizations on ongoing accessibility improvements, testing, coaching, and implementation support.

Podcast Services

I create, edit, and produce podcasts at a fixed price. Need help getting your podcast off the ground? Let's talk.

Accessibility for All Disabilities

Accessibility isn't just about blindness or screen readers. It's about removing barriers for people with all types of disabilities:

  • Vision disabilities: Blindness, low vision, color blindness
  • Hearing disabilities: Deafness, hard of hearing (captions, transcripts, visual alerts)
  • Motor disabilities: Limited mobility, tremors, paralysis (keyboard navigation, large click targets)
  • Cognitive disabilities: Learning disabilities, ADHD, autism (clear language, predictable navigation, sufficient time)
  • Vestibular disabilities: Vertigo, motion sensitivity (avoiding animations and moving content)
  • Speech disabilities: Voice control alternatives

When you make your website or documents accessible to one group, you improve the experience for everyone. Clear language helps non-native speakers. Captions help people in noisy environments. Good keyboard navigation helps everyone.

Assistive Technology We Test For

I test websites and digital products to work with the assistive technologies people use every day

Braille display device - a rectangular electronic device with rows of refreshable braille dots for blind users to read digital content

Braille Displays

Refreshable braille technology for blind users

Professional headphones and audio assistance device - earbuds and over-ear headphones for audio accessibility and captions

Audio Devices

For hearing captions, audio descriptions, and assistive listening

Adaptive switch control device - small electronic button for hands-free or one-handed operation for people with motor disabilities

Switch Controls

For hands-free and motor-accessible navigation

Screen reader and magnification software interface - digital accessibility tools that enlarge text and read content aloud for people with vision disabilities

Screen Readers & Magnification

For reading content aloud and enlarging text

Why This Matters

Inaccessible websites and documents create real barriers for people with disabilities. When digital content isn't accessible, you're excluding users and potentially violating accessibility laws like Section 508.

I started One Step Access because I believe making the web accessible shouldn't be complicated. I work with organizations to test their digital products, fix accessibility issues, and build better practices.

If you're serious about accessibility, I'm here to help you take that first step.

My Background

I'm a Section 508 Trusted Tester (certified in 2024) and a first-generation college graduate from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in Business Administration.

I've tested over 200 products at higher education institutions including Clark College, Eastern Oregon University, and Portland Community College. This real-world experience helps me understand how accessibility impacts students and users.

I'm based in Portland, Oregon, and I work with clients both locally and remotely.
